Hi there, I’m Rachael Hampton.
Yes that’s me in the photo above: busting my natural afro in nature with my sidekick Luna ;D.
I am a eco-friendly creative brand strategist, designer, web developper, and Instructor.
I moved from the USA to France in 1999, and have been running my own creative agency since 2003. As an American expatriate with a multicultural background and three languages – native English, fluent French and, more recently, basic German – I serve a diverse and international clientele.
My 18-year professional history encompasses six years of Agency experience in PARIS and SAN FRANCISCO, twelve years as an independant; creative brand strategist, designer, web developper consultant, two years as a professor of New Media Design at Créapole in Paris, six years as a professor at the École Pivaut Design School (in Nantes, France), and, one year as a professor at MJM graphic design (école de design in Nantes, France). I also speak at events, and provide coaching and training in on-site and virtual environments.
Flexibility and mobility are among my core assets and have led me to travel extensively throughout the world. I have thus developed an understanding of foreign marketing strategy which I combine with artistic ability, the latest technology trends and sustainable practices to produce AUTHENTIC DESIGNS. This cross-cultural experience and concern for sustainability influence the creative insight and unique techniques that are my trademarks.
I THINK ABOUT THE « BEFORE AND AFTER » OF A PROJECT! THIS IS WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.
I work with you as a creative partner, often beginning with only a concept and some imagination. It’s neither simply about creating remarkable concepts, nor beautiful designs; it’s also about solving problems. I do this with you through an intuitive ability to understand your needs and address them in an innovative and methodical way.
SO.. WHAT MOTIVATED ME TO CREATED MY OWN DESIGN AGENCY?
After working with different agencies in Paris, I noticed that designers do not normally have direct contact with their clients. There is a hierarchical process during which the clients’ needs get lost due to a lack of communication between them and the designer. I realized that I wanted to be more proactive in assessing clients’ needs, to meet their goals more effectively.
When I initially proposed ORIGINAL CONCEPTS along with great marketing ideas to agencies, they were more often than not too scared to offer these to their clients. They usually preferred to simply recycle or copy designs in order to finish projects early. The needs of the agency would take priority over clients’ objectives resulting in an overall lack of customer service, integrity, and sustainable practices.
MY DESIRE TO RE-FOCUS ON THESE CORE VALUES INSPIRED ME TO ESTABLISH ONE-ON-ONE RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE AND COMPANIES, WITHOUT INTERMEDIARIES..
What do I look like on paper ?
If you would like to know more about my professional background.
Psssst.. I created my personal brand into a resume website. Here is what I did: Photography (photoshoot by me of me), logo design, web design and development. Go check it out:
Some fun facts
I’m an American expatriate with more of 18 years of working and living in France.
I speak fluent French and English and am currently learning German. I’m a very sporty person since the age of four. Since my childhood, I’ve studied and practiced ballet, jazz, modern, salsa and hip hop. In high school, I played racquetball, cheerleading and tennis. In my twenty something’s, I became addicted to capoeira, French boxing, long distance biking and hiking.
I’m an outdoor enthusiast and a pack leader of one Pharaoh Hound, called Luna, and one cat, called Soleil. When I’m not designing, painting, taking pictures, hiking, dancing, jogging or playing with my Pharaoh Hound ‘Luna’ (which is rare, to be honest), I spend my time dashing around the frets of my guitars and singing.
Besides that, I take an interest in all kinds of things: gardening, concerts, art, reading (I read a lot), meditation, health, well being, fitness (I jog 5km a day with Luna dog, and I do three time a week High-Intensity Interval Training).
On the weekends, I love to travel to different cities and countries in Europe with my sidekick, Luna dog.
